Privacy Policy

Effective Date: June 13, 2026  ·  v2.0
Jump to section

CalTrack AI is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains exactly what data we collect, why we collect it, and how it is handled — in plain language, with no surprises.

01

Information We Collect

A. Information you provide directly

Data What it includes Required?
Account Email address, password hash, or Google Sign-In token Required
Profile Age, gender, height, weight, activity level, dietary goals Required
Health Logs Food diary, water intake, weight entries, custom activity logs Required
Media Profile photo, screenshots attached to bug reports Optional
Support Feedback messages, feature requests, deletion reasons Optional

B. Information collected automatically

Diagnostics — App version, OS version, device model, and Firebase User ID. Collected only when you explicitly send a bug report.
Analytics — Generalised screen views and session durations via Firebase Analytics, used purely to improve app stability.
Advertising ID — Your device's Advertising ID (AAID) is read by Google AdMob to serve ads in the free version of the app.

C. Information from connected services

Google Health Connect (Android) — With your explicit permission, we read step count, active and total calories burned, distance, and exercise logs to sync physical activity with your daily goals. This is entirely optional.
02

How We Store Your Data

CalTrack AI uses a local-first architecture — your data lives on your device first.

On-device — All daily logs and health metrics are stored locally in a secure on-device database (WatermelonDB).
Cloud backup — To enable cross-device access and backup, your local data is securely synchronised to Google Cloud Firestore. Profile photos and bug report attachments are uploaded to Firebase Storage.
03

AI Features

CalTrack AI offers AI-powered food scanning, text logging, and activity logging. Here is exactly how those features handle your data:

What is sent — Photos or text descriptions you submit are transmitted to the Google Gemini API solely to estimate calories and macronutrients.
What is not done — Your personal health data is never used to train public AI models, and is never shared with advertisers.
Retention — Images and texts sent to Gemini are processed to return nutritional data and are governed by Google's own data usage policy.
🔒

No public training. Your food logs, weight history, and health goals are used only to power your personal experience — they never feed into shared model training.

04
